To build a project to be a standalone executable follow these steps:

  • Go to File->Build Settings
  • Make sure all of the scenes you want to use in your project have been added to the Scenes in Build section. You can drag and drop them in from the Project section, and then rearrange them within that window by dragging and dropping.
  • Click the Player Settings button, which will show up in the Inspector. Here it is recommended that you change several settings including default resolution, set the game to run in fullscreen mode by default, and disable the startup window so the game runs right away after double clicking the exe.
  • After you have configured everything here, go back to the Build Settings window and click the Build button. It will ask you where to save the build and what to name it. After you have built your game, do not rename the folder it creates or the exe! This will prevent the game from running.

Finally, the mouse cursor left sitting in the middle of the screen can be very distracting on presentation day in BVW! You can disable the mouse cursor if your world does not use it by attaching this script to any object in your first scene:

using UnityEngine;
using System.Collections;

public class GeneralUtility : MonoBehaviour
{
    void Start()
    {
        Screen.showCursor = false;
    }

    void Update()
    {

    }
}
